About FIJI Water

What are the different types of bottled waters?

The FDA (United States Department of Food & Drug Administration) regulates bottled water in the United States and classifies bottled water by its origin. The types of waters found most often on retail shelves in America are artesian, purified, and spring waters.

What makes FIJI Water different from other waters?

FIJI Water is different from other waters because of its source on the island of Viti Levu, in the Fijian archipelago. On the island’s remote north side is the Yaqara Valley. Here, on the edge of a pristine rainforest, is the underground source aquifer.

As this rainfall filters down through the different layers of rock, sand, clay, and earth, it gathers a unique blend of minerals. The composition of Fiji’s volcanic rock is different from that found in other locations around the world because it is rich in colloidal silica. Silica contributes to FIJI Water’s soft, smooth mouthfeel.

At the end of this natural filtration process, FIJI Water gathers in the aquifer, where it remains until it is bottled and shipped to you. It is water the way nature intended: untouched by man until you unscrew the cap.

What size bottles does FIJI Water come in?

FIJI Water is available in the following sizes as single units and in multi-packs:

330ml (11.16 oz.)
500ml (16.91 oz.)
1 Liter (33.81 oz.)
1.5 Liter (50.72 oz.)

Is anything added to FIJI Water?

Nothing is added to FIJI Water. It is all-natural and bottled at the source, an artesian aquifer on the Fijian island of Viti Levu. Our water gets its soft, smooth mouthfeel from a unique blend of minerals it picks up as it filters down through the island’s volcanic rock.

How can I get information on whether or not FIJI Water meets the FDA’s standards for water quality?

For information on the the FDA’s testing of FIJI Water, download our California Water Quality Report (PDF), which is also available in Spanish (PDF).

Is FIJI Water kosher?

Yes, FIJI Water is kosher, as denoted by the “U” symbol on the front label.

How much FIJI Water should I drink daily?

In February 2004, the Institute of Medicine’s Food and Nutrition Board issued new recommendations. Instead of the previous 8 glasses per day (approximately 2 liters), the institute currently recommends that healthy adults consume:

  • 2.7 liters per day for women (approx. 11 glasses per day)
  • 3.7 liters per day for men (approx. 16 glasses per day)

(This includes water from both food and beverages combined.)

The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies has not set an upper limit on the amount of water you can consume. With its unique mineral profile and soft, smooth mouth-feel, FIJI Water is a great choice for your daily hydration needs.

How many calories does FIJI Water contain?

There are no calories in FIJI Water.

Does FIJI Water have a sell-by date?

FIJI Water uses the standard “best by” date for all water sold in the United States. The “best by” date can be found on the back of each FIJI Water bottle, under the back label. This date applies to unopened bottles.

While the federal government does not require an expiration date, certain states have individual requirements. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates bottled water in the United States, states that:

“Bottled water is considered to have an indefinite safety shelf life if it is produced in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (FDA regulations for the processing and bottling of bottled drinking water) and quality standard regulations and is stored in an unopened, properly sealed container. Therefore, FDA does not require an expiration date for bottled water…”

Can I freeze FIJI Water?

FIJI Water can be frozen and will freeze at normal freezing temperatures.
