Call for National Service

FIJI Green Gal: Here is Kristin, one of our marketing team members, to share her thoughts on public service. Thanks for joining us, Kristin…

When Barack Obama became president, he asked Americans to rise to the challenge in his call for national service. I truly believe that there is something every American can do to serve their community and their fellow man, and to help those in need.

As the largest export in Fiji, FIJI Water has a fundamental responsibility to give back to our community. Throughout our history, we have invested in education programs and health care projects that directly benefit the people of Fiji. And the FIJI Water Foundation, seeded by the company’s owners, Lynda and Stewart Resnick, and funded by contributions from our employees worldwide, has provided access to clean water in over 100 communities in Fiji, along with relief aid during natural disasters, support for schools, and critical medical services in this developing nation.

No matter where you live, there are organizations that need your help. You might start by locating a Salvation Army nearby, or by contacting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and offering your time. But you don”t have to volunteer at a nationally recognized organization just to serve the community where you live. A simple act of kindness can have the greatest impact of all. Try helping your neighbors take their trash out, or walking an elderly person across the street. Buy a sandwich for a hungry war veteran or visit a local animal shelter and ask if you can walk a dog. The most important thing to remember is that change starts with you. You can be the change you hope to see in others.

Will you rise to the challenge?

My name is Jade Carson and I attend Hockinson Middle School in Brush Prairie Washington. My school is going green. In my science class we are divided into groups that study different topics to help the environment. My group is studying green products. In our research we noticed that your company sells green products. We were wondering what products you recommend most and why. We would also appreciate it if you could send us some samples of your products. In approximately two weeks my group will be giving a presentation that is open to our community as well as the school staff. We would be using the samples in our presentation and any other information you give us. We can also include your company name in our presentation if you would like. You can ship the products to our school, the sooner the better just to be sure they get here in time for our presentation. The address is:
    17921 NE 159th street
    Brush Prairie, WA 98606
If you need to call you can reach us at: (360) 977-0021
Thanks for your time! -Jade Carson

    Hi Jade!
Thank you for reaching out to us. It’s wonderful to hear that your school is going green. This must be an exciting time for you.
I’m happy to send some product for your presentation. I do have one condition though. You have to promise that you will continue to help FIJI Water reduce its carbon footprint by recycling.
Challenge: Recycling reduces the carbon footprint of FIJI Water by at least _%. If you can find the answer, I’ll send an extra case that you can take home to enjoy with your family.

Please let me know how many students are in your class and I will send enough for everyone.
