Exhilarated bikers celebrate a job well done after last year's Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port.
Best Buddies is hosting its eleventh annual Hyannis Port-to-Boston bike ride. Committed supporters get to spend an invigorating day biking, walking, or running for a truly worthwhile cause. Held on June 5, the Best Buddies Challenge offers people several different ways to get involved. Participants can choose between a 100-, 50-, or 20-mile bike ride through the Massachusetts countryside, or a 3K walk or 5K run led by Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis. When it’s over they’ll be treated to massages, showers, a buffet, open bar, and a lobster-bake party with a private concert by KC and the Sunshine Band — all held on delightful Craigville Beach in Hyannis Port, one of the best-known and best-loved towns on Cape Cod. In addition to the food and entertainment, different guest speakers will describe first-hand how Best Buddies programs have enhanced the lives of individuals with — and without — intellectual disabilities.
Best Buddies was founded in 1989 and over the years has grown from one chapter into a vibrant organization found on more than 1,500 middle school, high school, and college campuses across the country and around the world. It helps people with intellectual disabilities by creating one-on-one friendships with volunteers, facilitating integrated employment, and encouraging leadership development.
