Hello, FIJI lovers! Last night I had the privilege of attending an event that FIJI Water sponsors, the Wine Spectator “Bring Your Own Magnum” party in Sonoma, CA. The premise is fairly simple, but it works like a charm: Wine Spectator invites winemakers, winery owners and advertisers/partners to bring a magnum of a particular wine from their winery. Over 100 hundred wineries are invited, so there was plenty of good wine to go around!
The event was held at the Hotel Healdsburg in Sonoma County. FIJI Water was the official water of the event, and we had a really cool FIJI ice sculpture shaped like a vase; I was impressed by how it stayed intact for so long without melting! In addition to the fabulous wine, Chef Charlie Palmer (who has a restaurant in the hotel) was the caterer of the event, and was there with his young sons, personally carving up fabulous tri-tip and rosemary crusted chicken and serving it to the guests. Pretty cool.
Some of the best wines I tasted were: Flowers Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007, Rodney Strong Symmetry 2005 Meritage, & Landmark 2007 Kanzler Pinot Noir, but there were many more great ones as well!
This was definitely one of the best food & wine events I’ve been to – for those of you who are into events like this, I recommend you check out the “SF. Chefs. Food. Wine” event happening from August 6-9 in Union Square in San Francisco.FIJI will be the official water sponsor of this event as well, and if you’re into great food and wine, it will be a great event to check out – http://www.sfchefsfoodwine.com/
Does anyone else have any good recommendations on food & wine events happening on the West Coast?
Danny
