FIJI Water fans enjoy the photo booth at Lollapalooza 2009.
Chicago’s annual festival of rock, Lollapalooza, more than lived up to its reputation when a slew of headlining names — Depeche Mode, The Killers, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ben Harper and Tool — descended upon the city the weekend of August 8. The weather was sultry in predictable Chicago summer style, so we stayed close by with FIJI Water on hand to make sure the music buffs stayed cool and hydrated for the duration of the amazing three days.
Hot days in Grant Park were punctuated by visits to BMF Media’s Music Lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel, where celebrities and music-industry heavyweights escaped for some star treatment, relaxation, gifts, and ice-cold FIJI Water. Complimentary massages and facials furnished by David Barton Gym and Fari + Sal, energy provided by Red Bull and CafÈ Bustelo, and a relaxing, sky-high field of grass given by Ravinia Festival all added to the chic comfort of the fantastic space. At times it was hard to leave the Music Lounge to re-enter the sweltering hot weather, but the shows were well worth it!
At night, all of the VIPs privileged with daytime pampering returned to the Music Lounge for after-parties of epic proportions, where the cocktails flowed and the live performances kept coming. Music highlights included Band of Skulls, DJ MOMJEANS (Danny Masterson), Passion Pit, GZA, and Ra Ra Riot. Stars and guests alike enjoyed FIJI Water throughout the weekend’s parties, as well as the special addition of a FIJI Water photo booth on Sunday night. Guests of the Music Lounge clambered with their friends to take a pic backdropped by their favorite skyline, wearing funky props and wigs — all in the name of fun.
It’s hard to believe Lollapalooza has come and gone, but this year’s highlights will live fondly in our memories, and we will look forward to an even bigger and better time in 2010. Don’t you think it’ll be worth the trip?
